The Automobile
Henry Ford was the founder of Ford Motors Company and a sponsor in the development of the assembly line. His automobile Model T also known as “Tin Lizzie” was a major start to freedom for people. Automobiles were mostly used for long distance travel, but after Model T people started going shopping, racing, and traveling. Automobiles allowed children to attend school because before it used to be too far to travel to. Automobiles also made it easier for sick people to get to hospitals faster. Ford was known for making the first automobile that middle-class people could afford, he was credited with the production of inexpensive

Electric Appliances
Electric Washing Machine
Electric appliances made the lives of many housewives and women much easier, it helped them save time and be free of housework and go outside. Alva J. Fisher invented the electric washing machine in 1908 to make the lives of housewives easier, so they wouldn’t have to wash clothes by hand. The electric washing machine improved the living standards for people and saved pain and labor. The electric washing machine was introduced to the Americans and lasts from 1846 to 1929. Electric Refrigerator
In the 1920s the first electric refrigerator was created by Fred W. Wolf, to store food at a suitable temperature and avoid food from getting moldy. In 1923, ice-cream cabinets were added to the refrigerator to advance the original version. Freezers were introduced in the 1920s. Electric Toaster
The electric toaster was brought up to the Americans in 1926, the Americans found the toaster irresistible. The electric toaster was a symbol of modernity for people, they thought that the electric toaster made them modern people. Most Americans used the “Flip-Flop” and “Open Doors” toasters. In 1919 Charles Strite, mechanic, designed a different type of a toaster, this toaster was more advanced than the “Flip-Flop” toaster. This toaster was more advanced because it had motor, spring, and a switch for the timer. |
